'Our Next Exciting Exhibition' launches at The Upper Deck Gallery
On Saturday 14 July, the landmark Upper Deck Gallery in Plettenberg Bay launches its 3rd exhibition aptly titled "Our next exciting exhibition" which runs for three months and showcases work in a variety of media, mainly oils and acrylics.
Artists include Maureen Quin, Raymond Andrews and David Riding. Local artists from the Knysna and Plettenberg Bay area include Jack Lugg, Tanya van Wyk, Lida Grobler, James Butler and Sonja Koter. Certain pieces will change throughout the run in order to continually refresh the exhibition and truly display the many works of art.
States curator and owner of The Gallery, Noelle Bolton, "The aim of The Upper Deck Gallery is to be 'a home away from home' for emerging talented artists."
Maureen Quin is regarded as one of South Africa's top sculptresses, she has a distinctive technique which makes her work highly collectable and priceless. Two of Raymond Andrews' recent pieces are showcased at The Upper Deck Gallery, and these are - as always - remarkable. David Riding is a passionate man who engages in the creation of art as a way of life. We are very proud to have one of South Africa's leading artists along the Garden Route - Jack Lugg - his work is truly magnificent and is defined by quality and fine 'art-manship'. Tanya van Wyk has recently returned from an exhibition in London; her new collection of art entitled "Life's a Beach" was commissioned especially for The Upper Deck Gallery. This is the third exhibition for Lida Grobler, a Plettenberg Bay artist whose feminine paintings are uniquely styled to bring life to any room. James Butler also hails from Plettenberg Bay and creates master pieces from 'rescued' fragments of wood. Sonja Koter has had several exhibitions, in Knysna and Plett, her vivid work is described as fresh with a warm after glow.
