UPPER DECK GALLERY - THE SPRING EXHIBITION
9 October 2007 - Creating a much needed reference point for art lovers in Plettenberg Bay, the Upper Deck Gallery will open its latest exhibition entitled 'The Spring Exhibition' on Friday 19 October, which will be on show for approximately three months. Artworks on display will be interspersed with additional pieces throughout the run to offer a greater variety for visitors.
Artists will include - Ryno Swart who is one of a number of artists worldwide who had the courage of their convictions to resist the all-pervasive fashion of modernism and to paint simply what he loves - Ian Hertslett a self taught established South African artist who uses faces and places as a never-ending reference point to his work - Peter Hall, who likes to use colour, line and from to convey a feeling - Malcolm Solomon, local sculptor, creator of the impressive 3 metre landmark Man & Whale bronze sculpture in Plettenberg Bay, gets his inspiration from the brutal energy and sublime beauty of natural wonders - Donald Cowie, a local painter who creates lively contemporary pieces of art.
Comments Art Director and owner, Noelle Bolton, "The support and positive response we've received from the local community in Plettenberg Bay about the Upper Deck Gallery has been outstanding and proves that the hunger to experience art in this town is growing. Tourists have also been surprised to find such a high standard and variety of art available."
